2017 Typhoons Swim TeamPosted: April 6, 2016
The Town & Country Typhoons Swim Team is part of the Greater Forsyth Swim League (GFSL). We merged 2 local leagues (WSASC and GFSL) and are now 17 teams strong!
The Town and Country Typhoons encourage children ages 5 – 18 to develop swimming skills, get in shape, make friends and build sportsmanship. We have a lot of fun with the Typhoons’ family of friends! Our primary goal, including skills and technique, is to create lifelong lovers of swimming. We do this by creating a strong sense of community and friendship that makes our swimmers come back year after year. Join us!
We are a non-profit, volunteer and donation driven team and pool. We need your help in these areas at every single swim meet and throughout the season! It is what makes us so strong, when the Big Storm Rises!
Our first land practice will be on Thursday, May 18th at regular practice times. We will send the kids off with our coaches and the parents will finish registrations and answer questions, if needed, while they do this. The coaches will decide when the first in-water practice will take place.
We will have late morning and early evening practice options again this year, Monday through Thursday. 10 and under group will practice from 5:45-6:45 pm, 11 and up group will practice from 6:45-7:45 pm. All morning practices will be added and begin after public school lets out for the summer (last day June 9th). 10 and under group will practice from 8:45-9:45 am, 11 and up group will practice from 9:45-10:45 am. We have a Fun Friday event, every Friday morning, with all ages coming together from 9:45-10:45 am. This is a long-standing Typhoons tradition!
We encourage all swimmers to attend at least four practices a week, the more the better. Practices chosen are at your discretion and ability.
Our 2017 team swimsuits will come from SwimGear: 147 S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 336.766.3006. You are welcome to use previous year suits or solid black. We encourage you to bring those suits that are too small, for sharing with anyone that may be interested. The team suit is to be worn at all swim meets! For every day practices, your swimmer may wear any one piece suit, he/she likes.
